One challenge here in Morocco is the lack of recycling. All water has to be purchased in plastic bottles and then disposed of in the trash. Same for cans, cardboard, plastic packaging, and anything else we might think of when we mention recycling.
Rather than have a service provided by the municipality, trash is disposed of in big containers on the side of the road. As a renter or homeowner, there is no fee for garbage collection and no direction in terms of what can be disposed of or where.
When the trash is thrown out, there are guys with carts, typically pulled by horses or donkeys that pick through the trash and pull our plastic bottles, cans, and any other items that can be reused.
It is a difficult job and very inefficient, but if it were not for these men, even more trash would end up in landfills and in the ocean.

is this your car parked at Jack Beach Bay? 😆
